Nightclubs back with a bang after Covid restrictions eased

A number of rules put in place last month in response to the Omicron variant were lifted on Monday.

Nightclubs are back with a bang following the easing of Scotland’s Covid restrictions.

A number of rules put in place last month in response to the threat of the Omicron variant were lifted on Monday.

Clubs can now reopen, while the caps on indoor events, table service requirements for venues selling alcohol and social distancing have also been removed.

The Buff Club in Glasgow welcomed back customers on Monday night.

One partygoer told STV News: “It’s just excitement to be able to spend time with everybody that you don’t get to see that often in a happy club environment.”

A young woman added that it’s been “so long” since she’d been out with friends and she couldn’t wait for a “wee dance”.

Another eager customer added: “It’s just a really good atmosphere and it’s good to get out and like just have a good time.”
