Nicola McCann and her partner Jamie Black welcomed baby Aiden at the stroke of midnight at Glasgow’s Princess Royal Maternity Hospital on January 1.

Although the baby boy was born seven weeks early weighing just 3lb 8oz, hospital staff said he was doing well.

Less than 20 minutes later, another boy was born at the same hospital to parents Halie Chrisman and Kunwoo Kim.

Henry was delivered at 19 minutes past midnight, weighing 7lb.

In North Lanarkshire, Elleanor-Rae Yardley was born at 12.09am at Wishaw General Hospital.

Weighing in at 7lb 14.5oz, parents Sara Yardly and Darren Thomson were said to be delighted at her safe arrival.

In Livingston at St John’s Hospital, baby Harper was the first arrival of the new year after being born at 2.34am.

Coming in at 5lb 14oz, parents Courtney Forrest and Ross Houston were thrilled with the birth of their daughter.

At University Hospital Crosshouse in Ayrshire, Lisa and Alan McConville welcomed baby Max at 6.11am.

Weighing in at 8lb 14oz, the baby boy is a brother for sister Macy, aged four.
