Network Rail contracts worth £1.3billion to be handed out in Scotland

Five organisations will receive a share of up to £1.3bn worth of contracts to keep Scotland’s Railway safe and reliable over the next five years.

The contracts, announced by Network Rail, come as part of the new Scotland Civils Framework, which is a lot-based agreement between the company and each of the contractors.

The funding will see work completed to buildings, structures, earthworks, drainage, renewals and enhancement projects across the country.

VolkerRail – with their first ever major contract on Scotland’s railways – will be joined by Taziker Industrial, AmcoGiffen, STORY and QTS in carrying out the work.

The work is split into Lots and the first of those, for minor civils up to £150m, will go to Taziker Indstrial, while Lot B, for buildings and civils up to £730m, will go to AmcoGiffen and STORY.

QTS will take on Lot C, which is for geotechnical and minor civils.

VolkerRail, which regularly completes projects on the network in England, will deliver signalling, power and communications works worth upto £150m.

Each contracts is for a five year period, with a three-year extension option based on performance in place.
