Marks & Spencer is to recruit more than 1,000 staff across its Scottish stores for Christmas.

The company is looking for seasonal workers during the busiest weeks of the year, with the first hires to start later this month.

Glasgow will see the biggest recruitment push with more than 436 roles available, including 70 at M&S Braehead.

Other key recruitment hotspots across Scotland include Edinburgh Kinnaird and Straiton, where 87 roles are available, Inverness and Elgin with 43 vacancies, and Berwick and Galashiels with 24 opportunities.

Applications are open with roles paying £13.41 per hour.

David Bates, M&S regional manager, said: “Our brilliant store colleagues are at the heart of M&S and play such an important role in delivering the magic of Christmas for customers and communities across Scotland.

“We’re delighted to be creating more than 1,000 opportunities across our Scottish stores this year and welcoming new colleagues into our teams.

“Christmas is one of the busiest and most exciting times to join M&S, whether you’re working in one of our city-centre stores or serving customers in towns and communities across Scotland. We’ll give new colleagues the training, tools and support they need to get up to speed quickly.

“What matters most is bringing energy, curiosity and a real commitment to doing the right thing for our customers and being part of a great team.”
