A man has been killed after the car he was driving crashed off the A68 in the Scottish Borders.

The 27-year-old was travelling southbound at around 8.15pm on Friday when the silver Ford Fusion left the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene but the driver, the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead.

The road was closed for collision investigation work and a recovery operation. It re-opened at around 3.40am on Saturday, February 5.

Police Scotland appealed for anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help to get in touch.

“In particular we are asking for those driving in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch. If you have dash-cam footage that could assist then please contact us.

”Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3311 of Friday, February 4, 2022.
