A trio of Scottish brothers who are aiming to become the fastest team to row across the Pacific from Peru to Australia are expected to arrive at their destination on Saturday.

Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean are due to arrive at Cairns Marlin Marina, though the exact expected arrival time is unclear.

The brothers had earlier been expected to arrive on Friday, but their arrival was pushed back.

The brothers, from Edinburgh, first set off on their record-breaking row from Lima in Peru on April 12.

Since then they have travelled 9,000 miles, a distance equivalent to 343 marathons, and spent 139 days on the Pacific Ocean.

Throughout their gruelling challenge the brothers have garnered support from around the world including the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Ewan McGregor and Flea.

Mark Wahlberg video called the brothers twice throughout the challenge saying their efforts “could be a movie”.

The 53-year-old actor said he would keep in touch with the trio as they make their way across the globe, hailing them as “warriors”.

The Scots have managed to raise more than £700,000 for The Maclean Foundation, a clean water charity the brothers launched with their father, Charles Maclean.

They first launched the foundation in 2020 after setting three world records by rowing the Atlantic Ocean in just 35 days.

They will become the first three brothers to row any ocean together, the youngest trio and the fastest trio to ever row the 3,000-mile journey from the Canary Islands to Antigua.
