Lidl GB recalls grated cheese which ‘may contain small pieces of plastic’ FSA

Lidl GB has issued a recall on cheddar cheese, as some packs “may contain small pieces of plastic”.

The supermarket giant’s own-brand, Simply Cheese, could be unsafe to eat according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

Product details state that it is the 500g bag of Simply Grated Cheddar, with a best before date of December 23, 2022.

Shoppers who have purchased the affected batch will be able to return it to Lidl for a full refund.

The Lidl GB stores which sold the impacted packages have displayed a point of sale notice, explaining to customers why the product is being recalled and telling them what to do if they have purchased the product.

The FSA advises: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“Any customers with queries or concerns can contact Lidl Customer Services on 0800 444 1234 or customer.services@lidl.co.uk”
