Lewis Capaldi announces Scottish gigs after Glastonbury comeback

Capaldi release a new single and returned to Glastonbury after a two year hiatus.

Lewis Capaldi has announced a new tour including two dates in Scotland following his surprise set at the Glastonbury music festival.

The 28-year-old took a hiatus to focus on his health after he struggled with Tourette’s Syndrome during his last performance at Glastonbury in 2023.

In May, Capaldi performed on stage for the first time in two years at a charity gig in Edinburgh to raise funds for suicide prevention.

After this, speculation grew that Capaldi was the secret performer scheduled for Glastonbury, with mysterious billboards being linked to a rumoured new single.

At midnight on June 26, he released a new song titled Survive, and alongside a video, he wrote on Instagram: “It’s been a while…”

The singer went on to make his return to the stage on Friday at the festival.

Capaldi took to the Pyramid Stage, saying: “Second time’s a charm on this one.”

He told the crowd he wanted “to come and finish what I couldn’t finish last time”, before leading the crowd through classics, Before You Go, Grace, Hold Me While You Wait, Bruises, Forget Me, and a first live showing of Survive.

On Monday, Capaldi announced a slate of new dates for his upcoming tour, including shows in Glasgow and Aberdeen.

In a post shared on X, he said: “About time I got back to work… hope to see you out there.”

Rob Wicks, managing director at P&J Live, said: “15,000 fans will remember Lewis Capaldi’s last gig at P&J Live in January 2023, when he equalled the Scottish indoor standing crowd record held by Gerry Cinnamon.

“Two years on, I’m sure his fans will all agree we’ve been desperate to see him back on stage doing what he does best, and we know he’ll sound better than ever. If you’ve never seen him before, it’s time – he is truly phenomenal.”
