Japan’s UK ambassador has gone viral after enjoying “a wee swally” before he attended Celtic’s win over Livingston on Wednesday.

Hiroshi Suzuki has become somewhat of a social media star across the country, with the diplomat being dubbed the “Paddington Bear of ambassadors”.

In his most recent trip to Scotland, the Japanese politician posted a video of himself enjoying a pre-match pint of Tennents before heading to Celtic Park to cheer on compatriots Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.

The video has been viewed almost 350,000 times and received 12,000 likes.

During his last trip north of the border, Suzuki went viral after taking his first sip of Irn-Bru and describing it as “just great”.

A picture posted on X, formerly Twitter, of Suzuki trying a teacake gained more than 46,000 likes, while his video of eating haggis gained more than 800,000 views on the platform.
