Other than the pandemic, three major news events dominated the headlines in 2021.

The Scottish Parliament election in May saw the SNP returned for a fourth term in government, although they were just shy of the majority they craved.

A month later, Scotland played twice in Glasgow as they returned to football’s biggest stage at the Euros, and in November, world leaders visited the city for the COP26 climate summit.
