A yellow warning for rain has come into force across large swathes of Scotland.
Commuters are warned that travel disruption is likely as slow-moving, heavy showers sweep across parts of the country.
The Met Office alert came into force at 8am on Tuesday and won’t end until 8pm that day.
It covers nearly all of the central belt alongside parts of the north east and the Borders.
The forecaster said spray and flooding on the roads could make journey times longer while bus and rail services are likely tobe impacted.
It also said there is a “small chance” some properties could be temporarily flooded in the heaviest hit parts of Scotland.
“Heavy showers are expected to develop during Tuesday morning,” the Met Office said, “then become more widespread and slow-moving across the east of the warning area during the afternoon.
“Whilst many places will miss the worst, where showers do occur, 15-20 mm rainfall is likely within an hour, and perhaps 30 to 40 mm in 1 to 2 hours in a few places.”
The forecaster said the “odd lightning strike” is also possible.
