Organisers of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games have revealed the volunteer uniform, with thousands set to wear the kit across the city when the event returns from July 23 to August 2.
Volunteers will be known as “Legends”, a title organisers say reflects their role in delivering the UK’s biggest sporting event of the year.
The announcement was made as more than 2,000 volunteers gathered at the SEC Armadillo for a first look at the uniforms at the start of their training.
Designed and produced by outdoor clothing brand Trespass, the uniforms use a colour palette inspired by Scotland’s landscapes, with pink serving as the colour for volunteers. Technical officials will wear purple, while staff will be identified in teal.
The volunteer outfit includes a waterproof jacket, softshell layer, polo shirt, trousers, backpack and cap. Elements of a Glasgow 2026 tartan are incorporated into some pieces.
Wan Yueng, a volunteer CGA Assistant, said the unveiling made the experience feel real. “I cannot wait to be a volunteer at Glasgow 2026.
“Seeing the uniform makes it all feel more real! It’s going to be great to be able to stand out in the crowd. I love that it’s functional, colourful and really comfy. It’s going to be the best summer.”
Games organisers say the “Legends” will help athletes, spectators and media across venues and the city.
George Black CBE, Chair of Glasgow 2026, said the volunteers are key to the city’s reputation for hosting events.
He added: “Glasgow is one of the greatest cities in the world for hosting major sporting events, not because of our venues and infrastructure alone, but because of the people who bring those events to life.
“‘Legend’ is a term of admiration in Scotland and it’s a fitting name for the volunteers. At any Games, a uniform is more than an outfit. It is an identity. These uniforms will unite our Legends, our technical officials and our staff as one team across the city this summer.”
The volunteer programme is supported by National Lottery operator Allwyn, which is helping deliver training for participants. Former Commonwealth champion and Glasgow 2026 ambassador Eilidh Doyle highlighted the importance of volunteers.
“Volunteers are a fundamental part of the Games, not only for how people experience the event – but for the Games to actually go ahead,” she said.
“Athletes are hugely appreciative of all the work that volunteers do and these incredible uniforms will be their way of identifying a friendly and supportive face during their competition.”
