A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a popular Scottish streamer, who documented her journey with cystic fibrosis, following her death.

Katie ‘Illy’ was a well-known Scottish VTuber who had over 50,000 followers on Twitch and more than 178,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The 23-year-old used her platform to be transparent about her battle with the disease, a condition that causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system, resulting in breathing problems and infections.

Content creator Drumsy revealed that Katie had died over Christmas, saying that she experienced unexpected health complications.

“She was rushed to the hospital,” he said in a YouTube video.

“I got a call from her mum letting me know that the doctors said there was nothing else they could do. They kept her medicated and made sure that she wasn’t in pain.

“She passed away peacefully in her sleep.”

It comes after Illy created a fundraiser for her ‘bucket list’ in August, which included activities like seeing a Vocaloid concert, going to conventions and theme parks, and “throwing a big party” with her friends and family.

A fundraiser has since been launched by the Drumsy Team for Katie’s mother, Rachel, in an effort to support her following her daughter’s death.

Over £12,000 has been raised so far. You can donate to the GoFundMe here.

A statement on the page reads: “Many of you knew and loved Illy. This fundraiser is for her mom, Rachel.

“She is an amazing woman who has always put her daughter first. I’m raising money to support her during this incredibly difficult time – to help with expenses, relieve pressure, and give her space to grieve without additional worry.

“Whether you donate, share, or simply keep her in your thoughts, thank you for being part of the love surrounding Illy and her family.”
