Areas across Scotland have been told to expect flooding as temperatures soar causing the snow and ice to melt.

Days after residents in Altnaharra were struck by lows of -18.9C during a bitter cold snap on Saturday, some parts of the country will see highs of 11C on Monday.

However, with the sudden temperature comes the risk of flooding in the areas impacted most by the snow.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has issued eight flood alerts and two warnings, with the thaw and incoming rain likely to cause disruption.

Residents in both Strath Oykel and Strath Carron in the Highlands have been told to expect the flooding of agricultural land and roads in the area.

Whilst those in many other places around the country, including the north-east and Argyll and Bute, have been told to be wary of localised flooding.

The areas affected by the flood alerts are:

Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City

Argyll and Bute

Caithness and Sutherland

Easter Ross and Great Glen

Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside

Skye and Lochaber

Tayside

Wester Ross

The areas affected by the flood warnings are:

Strath Oykel

Strath Carron
