The final supermoon of the year will light up the sky on Thursday night.
Known as the “flower moon”, signifying the flowers that bloom during the month, it will appear much bigger and brighter than usual as it orbits closer to Earth.
Unfortunately, the full moon will peak at around 11.45am when it is not visible in the sky in the UK at that time.
Moonrise in Scotland is expected to happen shortly after 9pm, with 99.6% illumination from the sun.
A supermoon is around 6% larger than a typical full moon and around 14% bigger than a micromoon, which is when the moon is at its furthest point from Earth.
The next supermoon will be visible in April 2021.
