Family pays tribute to ten-year-old boy who died in loch

The family of a ten-year-old who died after getting into difficulty at a loch in Stirlingshire has paid tribute to a “much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin”.

Michael Heeps from High Valleyfield, Fife, died following an incident in Loch Lubnaig, near Callander, on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called at around 5.35pm to reports of a child experiencing difficulty in the water. 

Michael’s death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. 

His family paid tribute in a statement, saying: “He was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin x.”
