A Scot was left with a facial injury after an alleged assault by an England fan during the Euro 2020 final against Italy.

The football fans were both at a holiday resort in Ibiza watching the match on Sunday night when the reported incident happened.

The Spanish island’s Guardia Civil were called to the Sirenis hotel at the Holiday Village Seaview Ibiza resort at around 10.30pm local time.

The Scot had a tooth broken and was taken to hospital where he required four stitches to his brow.

The Guardia Civil sent a patrol to what they described as a “minor altercation involving two fans”.

Police said the England fan was not at the scene when they arrived but he was arrested the following day.

Holiday company TUI said it was investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: “We were very concerned to hear reports of an incident involving two guests at the Holiday Village Seaview hotel in Ibiza on Sunday.

“We’d like to reassure guests that this is being taken seriously and our hotel team is supporting two families while investigating this further. The safety and well-being of our customers is always our priority.”
