Coronavirus: Four days with no deaths recorded in Scotland

It is the fourth day in a row in Scotland that zero Covid-19 deaths have been recorded.

No coronavirus deaths have been reported in Scotland for the fourth day in a row.

The death toll from the virus in Scotland, including presumed Covid-19 deaths, remains at 4129.

There have also been just five new cases of coronavirus recorded in the country in the past 24 hours.

It takes the total number of confirmed cases of the virus in Scotland over the course of the pandemic to 18,241.

Nicola Sturgeon provided the latest statistics at the Scottish Government’s daily press briefing on Monday.

The First Minister reminded the public that deaths can be artificially low at weekends but added: “There is no doubt that these recent figures demonstrate beyond any doubt how much progress Scotland has made in terms tackling Covid.

“I want again to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you for that.”

She said 740 patients are in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus – 38 fewer than the day before.

Just ten people are being treated in intensive care with the virus or symptoms of it, the lowest figure since March 18 and a drop of three on Sunday.

A total of 4051 people hospitalised with the virus have been able to go home to continue their recovery.
