Coronavirus: No deaths as cases rise by 2048 overnight

A total of 444 people were in hospital on Saturday with recently confirmed Covid-19, according to the Scottish Government.

A further 2048 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Scotland overnight, according to official figures.

The daily test positivity rate is 11.2%, up from the 9% reported on Saturday.

Of the new cases reported on Sunday, 510 are in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, 438 are in Lothian, 216 are in Lanarkshire, and 199 are in Tayside.

The rest of the cases are spread out across nine other health board areas.

A total of 444 people were in hospital on Saturday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a rise of nine overnight. Out of those, 40 patients are in intensive care.

No further deaths were reported.

The lab-confirmed death toll of those who tested positive currently stands at 7757, however figures including suspected Covid-19 deaths recorded by National Records of Scotland suggest the most up-to-date total is now at least 10,189.

It was also confirmed that 3,928,409 Scots have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, an increase of 8264 from the day before.

A total of 2,877,326 people have received their second dose, a rise of 16,216.
