Coronavirus: 48 more deaths and 895 cases in Scotland

Scotland has recorded 48 deaths from coronavirus and 895 positive tests in the past 24 hours.

The number of new cases has remained the same as Friday, although the number of deaths has decreased from 61.

It brings the death toll of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days to 6431.

The report shows 185,208 people have now tested positive in Scotland.

The daily test positivity rate is 5.9% up from 4.9% on Friday

Meanwhile a total of 1729 are in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19 – a decrease of 65 from the previous total.

The number of intensive care patients has fallen by six in the last 24 hours to stand at 117.

In the past 24 hours, 43,915 people received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccination.

A total of 786,427 Scots have now received the first dose and 10,332 have received their second dose.
