Concern growing for mountain biker missing near Moffat Hills in Dumfriesshire Police Scotland

A mountain biker, with “extensive knowledge” of a popular walking and biking area in Dumfriesshire has been reported missing.

Stephen Sanderson was last seen around 3pm on Thursday, April 6, in Nethermiln Meadow, Moffat.

The 53-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 9 inches in height with short black hair. 

He has a pale complexion and is normally clean shaven.

When last seen he was wearing a blue Rab jacket with dark coloured outdoor trousers and blue walking shoes. He sometimes wears glasses.

He is a keen mountain biker and has extensive knowledge of the Moffat Hill area.

Officers are carrying out extensive enquiries to locate Stephen but so far he has not been traced.

Sergeant Brian Dickson said: “Stephen’s family is understandably concerned as this behaviour is very out of character. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Stephen or who has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0468 of April 6 2023.
