Commonwealth Games boxer 'missing' in Scotland posting from Pakistani sports centre

A boxer who went ‘missing’ in Scotland after participating in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow is posting videos appearing to show him in his home country.

Quadrat Ullah reportedly failed to rejoin his teammates and return to Pakistan last month.

It was also reported that his team manager was in possession of his passport and return ticket.

But the boxer posted a video on his social media on Sunday, appearing to show him at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.

Quadrat Ullah has also posted a picture to his instagram story, with the badge for C.F La Nucía, a Spanish football team based in Valencia, which plays its home games at Estadio Camilo Cano.

STV News has approached Quadrat Ullah for comment.

Ugandan boxers remain unaccounted for

Four members of Team Uganda were also reported missing last month.

Angel Katushabe, Nuhu Batte, Ibrahim Khemis and Emily Nakalema are all still unaccounted for.

It’s not the first time Ugandan athletes have disappeared during international competition.

Several athletes failed to return following the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, while two Ugandan rugby sevens players, Benon Kizza and Philip Pariyo, also went missing after Glasgow 2014.

They claimed asylum and moved to Cardiff.

The Ministry of Education and Sports Uganda was expected to issue an update after their disappearances, but have yet to do so.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland has received reports of several athletes who are unaccounted for.

“Enquiries are ongoing to assess the circumstances and engagement is taking place with the Home Office.”

The Home Office says it takes all necessary steps to prevent people who could abuse the immigration system from entering the UK, but does not comment on individual cases.

That includes enhanced checks on people who enter the UK for major events.
