Strike action planned by college lecturers over a dispute with employers has been cancelled after an agreement was reached.
A series of walk-outs had originally been planned for last week before being suspended until Thursday.
The action was taken over complaints that lecturers were being replaced with lower paid assessors.
But after a meeting on Wednesday an agreement was made which ended the dispute.
The EIS Fela confirmed the news on Twitter: “The EIS have received notification from Colleges Scotland that the Employers’ Association met today and unanimously ratified the agreement made at NJNC on Friday March 23.
“A further meeting of the NJNC will be convened as soon as possible to formally sign off the agreement, ending the national dispute on the replacement of lecturers with Trainer/Assessor type roles.
“Accordingly, the programme of strike action currently being undertaken is suspended and will be cancelled following the formal sign off on the agreement at NJNC.
“For the avoidance of doubt tomorrow’s proposed strike action, April 29, is cancelled.”
However a campaign of strike action at Forth Valley College remains in place over a local dispute.
