Co-op issues recall over metal pieces in tuna, Food Standards Scotland says unsafe to eat Co-op

Co-op has issued a recall of some tuna products due to the possible presence of “pieces of metal” in the tins.

Co-op Tuna Chunks in Sunflower Oil and Co-op Tuna Chunks in Springwater were recalled on Tuesday by the supermarket.

Food Standards Scotland said specific batches of both products are subject to the recall, with the company offering full refunds to customers.

The cans of fish may contain pieces of metal, which makes them unsafe to consume.

The company will display recall notices in-store until June 14, 2022.

Customers who are self-isolating or shielding can contact the Co-op Customer Careline on 0800 068 6727.

The batches affected are as follows:

  • Co-op Tuna Chunks in Sunflower Oil – 3x145g, best before 31/08/2026
  • Co-op Tuna Chunks in Springwater – 3x145g, best before 31/08/2024
