Scottish food company Baxters have issued a recall notice for its Chef Selections Cullen Skink soup over fears the tins could burst.

The Food Standards Agency said a manufacturing fault may cause the product to spoil, and the cans may “swell and potentially rupture”.

It added that if spoilt, the smoked haddock chowder may have an “unpleasant odour and flavour”.

The issue may affect the 400g cans with batch code L07XC and an April 2029 best before date.

It urges customers who bought the product to “place the full can in a bag and dispose of it in an external bin”.

People seeking a replacement are told to contact Baxters customer care team.
