American nuns belt out Scottish anthems as World Cup fever sweeps convent

World Cup fever has reached the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, in Germantown, New York

A group of American nuns have been singing a few Scottish tunes to support the Tartan Army.

World Cup fever has reached the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, based in Germantown, New York, with the Scots in the tournament for the first time since 1998.

The order, founded in 1929 by Venerable Mother Angeline, who grew up in Scotland, belted out No Scotland, No Party and We’ll Be Coming while waving saltires.

The clip, shared on social media by Sancta Familia Media, says the sisters “got right into it”.

John Patrick Mallon, co-founder of the Catholic production company, said: “Thanks to these sisters’ incredible hospitality, I was able to go see Scotland in the World Cup.”

Scotland fans have been invading Boston in their tens of thousands this week after beating Haiti 1-0 in Foxborough on Saturday.

Steve Clarke’s men take on Morocco at the same venue, Boston Stadium, on Friday and currently sit top of Group C.
