A 99-year-old man has ticked a dream off his bucket list – to get back in the show ring with an Ayrshire cow by his side.
Former farmer Jackie Brown showed his cattle all around Scotland in his younger years.
And despite wanting to get in the ring once again – he thought his showman days were long behind him.
But when staff at his care home in Stranraer found out his dream, they made sure his wish came true.
Jackie said: “You could say (it was) more than amazing, easy, that’s for sure.
“Because I never, ever (thought I) would have got it after such a long gap”.
Yvonne Patterson, from Belmont Care Centre said: “Their one wish is something that everyone really should have, and I just thought it would be lovely for them.
“I kind of had an idea, because he always speaks about cows and farming and everything.
“And he’s been talking about it non-stop.
“(He was) really excited so much last night and looking forward to it, and as soon as we come through the gates, his face just lit up.”
Making it happen took weeks of planning with the show’s organisers finding the perfect cow for Jackie.
Charles Service, from Stranraer Agricultural Society said: “I thought it was a wonderful idea of being involved with the show.
“Priceless, you couldn’t can’t buy that.
“It was wonderful to see him and especially when he was enjoying holding the cow and getting a smile and getting his ticket for the prize.
“It really made everything special for Jackie”.
