John Swinney will face First Minister’s Questions after confirming that he is considering a social media ban for under-16s.
The First Minister said on Wednesday there was a “strong argument” for the measure, which he said could protect youngsters from the “social media storm”.
He confirmed he is engaged in discussions with Labour ministers to “strike the right balance” between protecting people, while also offering the opportunity to benefit from the positive side of social media platforms.
Swinney is also facing calls to “call in” City of Edinburgh Council’s homeless strategy by Shelter Scotland.
The First Minister and the Scottish Housing Regulator are both being challenged to act as campaigners accused a local authority of having “systematically failed homeless people for years”.
Shelter Scotland said it is the first time it has issued such a demand, as it accused the council of seeking to “punish” homeless residents in an “inhumane way” and of “taking away hard-won rights”.
He could also face questions on his call with Donald Trump earlier in the week.
Swinney spoke to the soon-to-be 47th president on Tuesday, with Trump speaking of his admiration for Scotland, but discussions did not include a potential visit to Bute House when the Republican next comes to Scotland – expected to be some time next year.
