The SNP are the largest party in Glasgow City Council after the final results were declared following a tense count.

The city was won by one seat, 37-36, over Labour.

Susan Aitken, the leader of th council, had earlier pledged to step down if the party lost the election.

She was re-elected in her Langside ward, but beaten by Greens to first place.

It comes as the SNP and Scottish Labour make gains across the county, with the Scottish Conservatives losing councillors.
