Sir Keir Starmer is facing MPs at Prime Minister’s Questions at the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon.
The Prime Minister is likely to face questions over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, after announcing earlier this week a £53m fund to support those impacted by heating oil increases.
On Monday, Starmer pledged to help UK households with the cost of living amid the energy price spike caused by the war in the Middle East.
The per litre of heating oil has doubled as a result of the stranglehold on oil leaving the Middle East since the US-Israeli war with Iran began.
The PM is also likely to face questions on an outbreak of meningitis in Kent, which has claimed the lives of two young people.
The UK Health Security Agency said that, as of 5pm on Tuesday, some 20 cases of meningitis had been reported to it, up from 15 previously.
Of these, nine cases have been confirmed in the lab and 11 remain under investigation.
Six of the confirmed cases have been confirmed as the meningitis B strain.
Starmer said on Wednesday that his thoughts were with those affected by the Kent meningitis outbreak at this “deeply difficult time”.
