Scottish ministers are set to address a review of Dundee University’s finances at Holyrood.
Education secretary Jenny Gilruth will be giving an “initial” ministerial response to the Gillies Review of Dundee University’s Finances.
Led by Professor Pamela Gillies, the damning report found serious concerns over governance and transparency at the highest levels of the university.
It found that the ex-principal and other senior leaders breached ethics rules, ignored financial red flags, and operated in “isolation of facts”.
Former principal Iain Gillespie resigned in December, weeks after the university revealed a £30 million deficit and said that it would be “out of cash” by the end of June.
The university had to be bailed out with £22m from the Scottish Government to keep it going.
Ministers have since been trying to get to the bottom of what happened, how it happened, and who is to blame.
Gilruth’s ministerial statement about the situation is due to be live-streamed from Holyrood around 2.20pm.
