Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has announced he is isolating after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Edinburgh Western MSP tweeted a photo of his positive Covid-19 test result and confirmed he will be working from home.

Cole-Hamiltion tweeted: “Ah well, it’s been a good run.

“Glad to be fully jabbed. Self isolating at home but still working if you are a constituent and need my help.”

The news comes as First Minister’s Questions is set to kick off around midday on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Scottish Government announced it is seeking to retain powers allowing for the implementation of Covid measures until September this year.

Regulations were set out at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday to extend the expiry date for coronavirus requirements.

The regulations had been due to expire on February 28, but ministers have sought to extend them until September 24.
