Sunak faces PMQs amid Johnson's refusal to accept partygate findings

The former prime minister branded the findings of the inquiry 'absurdly unfair' - prompting his resignation and the threat of further by-elections.

Rishi Sunak could come under attack amid a split in the Conservative party over the probe into Boris Johnson’s actions during the Covid pandemic.

The former prime minister described the findings of the partygate inquiry as “absurdly unfair” after standing down as an MP over the details of the investigation – which found Johnson deliberately and knowingly attended parties inside Downing Street while restrictions were in place.

Two other Johnson supporters, Nadine Dorries and Nigel Adams, announced their intentions to stand down in support of the ex-PM, forcing Sunak into the uncertainty of by-elections in three constituencies.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer could go after his opponent on the current turmoil engulfing the party when they face off in the House of Commons today.
