Rishi Sunak is facing MPs at Prime Minister’s Questions ahead of the first by-election to take place during his premiership.
Voters in Chester, a town close to the English-Welsh border, will head to the ballot box on Thursday.
The contest was triggered by the resignation of Chris Matheson as a Labour MP.
Matheson quit after an independent panel recommended his suspension for “serious sexual misconduct”.
The by-election in Chester is the first time that the electorate have had a say in a Westminster vote since Boris Johnson departed as prime minister in July.
Labour has a majority of just over 6,000 votes in the constituency, with the party expected to hold the seat.
However, the margin of victory may give an early indication as to how disaffected voters are with the current government at Westminster.
At Prime Minister’s Questions, Sunak will face Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer at the despatch box, as well as the SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford.
