Rishi Sunak is set to face MPs ahead of a grilling that could determine whether Boris Johnson knowingly misled parliament over the partygate scandal.
The former Tory leader will be quizzed by the Privileges Committee at 2pm on Wednesday, just two hours after Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs).
If MPs decide that Johnson deliberately misled them, he could be suspended from the House of Commons for several days.
PMQs comes ahead of a vote on the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal for Northern Ireland which aims to give the country a greater say on how EU laws are applied post-Brexit.
Former prime ministers Johnson and Liz Truss have both announced their intention to vote against the bill.
Sunak could also be questioned by MPs over a damning report into the largest police force in the UK.
On Tuesday, the review found the Metropolitan Police is institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic.
Baroness Casey’s report criticised the force for failing women and girls and said a “boys’ club” culture was rife.
