Rishi Sunak is facing a grilling from MPs as he attempts to get his Rwanda deportation plans off the ground.
The Prime Minister is expected to publish emergency legislation within a matter of days that will ensure his plans to send some migrants to the African nation can go ahead.
The bill seeks to address concerns from the UK’s Supreme Court that Rwanda is not a safe country to send asylum seekers to.
The court ruled last month that the UK Government’s plan was unlawful.
The policy was originally announced by then-prime minister Boris Johnson in 2022 and now forms a key pillar of Sunak’s “stop the boats” pledge amid high levels of English Channel crossings.
But the plan has suffered a number of setbacks and has divided some Tory MPs.
