Ruth Davidson is to take the title of Baroness Davidson of Lundin Links when she is introduced to the House of Lords.
Davidson, who stepped down as an MSP in May, was nominated to receive a peerage by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last year.
Following her nomination, she said she was “honoured” to follow in the footsteps of former Holyrood parliamentarians including Jack McConnell, Jim Wallace and Annabel Goldie in being nominated.
Those who have been nominated traditionally take their name in their title, along with a location significant to them – which could be where they are from or an area that they have represented.
The House of Lords is set to go into recess on July 22, though it is unclear whether Davidson will be introduced to the House before then, or whether it will take place when the Lords return on September 6.
Earlier this week, Davidson criticised Boris Johnson over the Government’s cut to foreign aid, calling it a “bloody disgrace”, after MPs voted by 333 votes to 298 to cut spending from 0.7% of GDP to 0.5%.
