Nicola Sturgeon publishes six years of tax returns and calls on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to do the same Scottish Government

Nicola Sturgeon has published her tax returns and put pressure on the Prime Minister to do the same.

Six years worth of filings were made public on the SNP website on Monday as a commitment to release the information continues.

The First Minister’s returns cover from 2014 to 2022.

They show Sturgeon’s sole income is the salary she receives as an MSP and First Minister, with the latest showing a total income of £140,496.

“I previously committed to being open and transparent to the people of Scotland about my own earnings,” Sturgeon said in a statement.

“Today’s publication makes good on that commitment.

“These documents show clearly that my sole source of income is my job as First Minister – the office which I have the immense privilege of holding.

“I hope other party leaders – including the Prime Minister – will follow suit in an effort to promote transparency in public office.”

Rishi Sunak has previously pledged to release his tax returns but has yet to do so.
