Nicola Sturgeon facing penultimate FMQs as SNP leader

The First Minister is due to step down in less than two weeks as the leadership race to replace her continues.

Nicola Sturgeon is facing her penultimate round of First Minister’s Questions before stepping down from the top job at Holyrood.

Kate Forbes, Ash Regan and Humza Yousaf are vying to replace the outgoing FM on March 27 but the leadership race has become characterised by infighting between party members.

The SNP has come under pressure in recent days to reveal the exact number allowed to vote in the election, with the figure set to be released later on Thursday.

Sturgeon is likely to be quizzed on why party chief Peter Murrell, her husband, took so long to respond to an open letter from Forbes and Regan on the request.

Yousaf, who has received backing from some of the most senior SNP figures including outgoing depute John Swinney, has also backed the move.
