Nicola Sturgeon faces FMQs for first time since announcing resignation

The outgoing FM will make one of her final appearances at the helm of FMQs at Holyrood.

Nicola Sturgeon is to face opponents in Holyrood for the first time since announcing her resignation.

The outgoing FM will be quizzed by the likes of Anas Sarwar and Douglas Ross eight days after revealing her intention to stand down from the role.

A campaign to find a replacement leader is now under way, with three candidates already declared.

Ash Regan, Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes have all staked their claim to party members ahead of Friday’s deadline for nominations.

Sturgeon has said she will stay on as an MSP even after she leaves the FM’s office, adding she planned to “drive the case for independence from the back benches”.

A new leader will be chosen on March 27.
