Nicola Sturgeon faces FMQ's amid unfolding SNP leadership contest

The FM did not tune in to Tuesday's STV debate, but will likely face questions on some of the points raised by those bidding to succeed her.

Nicola Sturgeon will face questions over the unfolding contest to succeed her as First Minister when the incumbent Holyrood leader appears in the chamber on Thursday.

The FM said she “did not watch” the SNP leadership debate on STV earlier this week when Kate Forbes, Ash Regan and Humza Yousaf were allowed to question each other on their vision for the country.

Finance secretary Forbes is currently ahead in the polls ahead of the race ending on March 27, but with a number of televised debates still to go.

Sturgeon, who confirmed she was standing down as FM last month, will still have to face two more iterations of the weekly FMQ’s session before moving to a back bench position as an MSP.
