John Swinney will face questions after the Scottish Government abandoned its National Care Service plan.

The First Minister will take questions in parliament after changes to the proposals were confirmed on Thursday morning.

The proposal would have centralised adult social care and social work in Scotland, making ministers ultimately accountable for their delivery.

However, the plans drew criticism after it emerged that more than £28m had been spent on devising the service since 2021.

Questions are also expected to be asked of Neil Gray, who is due to address MSPs over his use of a ministerial car to attend football games.

Gray will give a statement in the Scottish Parliament, discussing his ministerial travel.

The Tories have attacked the SNP minister after it was reported that he was chauffeured to Hampden to watch three games involving Aberdeen, the team he supports.

But his cabinet colleague Gillian Martin defended him, saying he was “doing his job” and attending events to promote government initiatives.
