John Swinney is set to face MSPS in the chamber at Holyrood on Thursday at First Minister’s Questions, as the fallout from former SNP CEO Peter Murrell’s crimes continues.
In the new style of FMQs, Thursday will see leaders of political opponents table questions to John Swinney from 2pm.
From next week, Swinney will also take questions from backbench MSPs on Tuesdays at 2pm.
It is expected that the fallout from Murrell’s crimes will dominate the questions posed to the First Minister, after the former SNP chief executive appeared in court earlier this week for a hearing.
The hearing at Edinburgh High Court detailed how Nicola Sturgeon’s estranged husband embezzled the cash from the party by creating false invoices.
The 61-year-old used the money to buy numerous items – including a motorhome and luxury goods – and towards the purchase of two cars.
On Thursday, it was revealed the SNP will sue Murrell to claw back the £400,000 he embezzled from the party
Murrell will return to the High Court in Edinburgh on June 23 where he will be sentenced. Until then, he remains in custody.
