Swinney faces questions at FMQs amid 'deep concerns' over Scottish finances

The First Minister will take questions at Holyrood on Thursday after the Finance Committee raised concerns over management of the public purse.

John Swinney is set to face “deep concerns” raised by a cross-party group of MSPs at FMQs over the management of Scottish finances .

The First Minister will take questions at Holyrood on Thursday after the Finance Committee said there is little evidence of ministers taking a long-term view of managing the public purse.

The group noted that for each of the last three years, the finance secretary has had to take emergency measures to deal with in-year budget pressures.

In September, Shona Robison announced cuts of up to £500m from Scottish Government spending, saying urgent action was necessary to balance the books.
