Election Daily June 18: Scottish Labour manifesto pledges change in Holyrood and Westminster

Anas Sarwar said his party would make work pay and bring back economic stability to the UK.

Scottish Labour has launched its manifesto with a pledge to bring change to bring economic stability to Scotland and a new deal for workers.

Anas Sarwar said his party would make work pay for young people with a rise in the minimum wage and would bring jobs north of the border with a new GB Energy company.

But he faced questions over his party’s stance on the two-child benefit cap and its plans to tax private schools.

He also used the launch of the manifesto as a springboard for his Holyrood ambitions, saying change was needed in London and Edinburgh alike.
