Michael Gove claimed on Tuesday that fishing was "very close to my heart" before blundering over the names of two major ports.

Attacking the EU's common fisheries policy, the justice secretary said his father's fish merchant business in Aberdeen had collapsed partly as a result of rules set in Brussels.

Gove was mocked on Twitter after stumbling over the names of two Scottish ports, Fraserburgh and Peterhead, instead referring to Peterborough and Fraserhead.

Mr Gove had been answering questions following a speech on Brexit.

He told the audience common fisheries policy was a "symbol of what we lost when we entered the EU".
