The latest opinion poll ahead of May's Holyrood election shows that the SNP are heading for a second majority government.

Pollsters TNS put the SNP on 56% of the constituency vote while Labour is second with 19%. The Scottish Conservatives, who are aiming to finish ahead of Labour, are third in the poll on 15% while the Liberal Democrats finish fourth in the constituency section with 6%.

When entering the poll results into Weber Shandwick's seat predictor it suggests that the SNP will form a majority government with 72 seats, three more than what they won in 2011.

If these results were replicated on polling day on May 5 this would give the Scottish Greens their highest share of the vote and a record number of MSPs. The left-wing party would become Scotland's fourth largest party in Holyrood ahead of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
