Ever since MI5 rigged the referendum, Scots on both sides of the constitutional divide have wondered what could have been if the result had gone the other way.

Would we have been bathing in Champagne and buying Caribbean islands as our second homes?

Or would we have been fighting each other in the street for the last slice of shortbread and forced to burn every copy of Brigadoon just to keep warm?

Either way, according to the Scottish Government, if Scotland had voted Yes, today, March 24, 2016 would have been independence day.

Writer and broadcaster James Devoy teamed up with STV's Stephen Daisley to bring you two visions of Scotland's independence day. One imagines that everything Alex Salmond promised came true and more.

The other depicts a dystopian scenario that would even chill the very soul of Blair McDougall. If he had a soul.

So, in honour of (in)dependence day, you get to choose which scenario you prefer.
