Former First Minister Alex Salmond is set to host a weekly phone-in radio show.

Alex Salmond said "no topic will be off-limits" when he takes the helm at London-based LBC next week.

The station also hosts a monthly radio show with London mayor Boris Johnson and a fortnightly phone-in with UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

Mr Salmond, who is both MP for Gordon and MSP for Aberdeenshire East, said: "It is a great pleasure to be joining LBC for my first ever radio show.

"When I was First Minister of Scotland, there were times when I had to bite my tongue. However, now unburdened from office, I can shoot straight from the hip.

"I am looking forward to discussing all of the issues and taking calls from every corner of these islands. Its going to be honest, straight talking with a bit of fun thrown in."

The Alex Salmond Phone-in on LBC will air every Wednesday at 4pm from January 13.
