Four young people have been reported in connection with blaze at an Angus golf course, which “put others at risk”.

Officers were called to reports wilful fire-raising at the Buddon Course, Carnoustie Golf Links at around 7.50pm on July 12.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no-one was injured.

Following extensive enquiries, Police Scotland reported four youths – three boys and a girl – to the Youth Justice Assessor over the incident.

“The actions of these teenagers clearly placed others at risk,” said constable Stephen Adam.

“We have worked tirelessly to identify those responsible and I would like to thank the public for their assistance which was invaluable during the enquiry.

“I would ask parents to re-enforce the message to their children regarding the dangers of setting fires, the disruption this can cause to others and the risk it presents to themselves as well.”
